Awkwafina started out as an American rapper and singer, performing sly tunes that dealt with issues such as racial and sexual identity with a comedic twist. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents within Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was through the trumpet.
